It is interesting to see how Microsoft is responding to the challenge of Linux and the People PC. Working with Microsoft always entails a consequence, usually of limiting choices to Microsoft products. I am not anti-Microsoft as an ideology, but I take everything that they do with some caution.

BANGKOK, June 6 (TNA) – The Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates is scheduled to visit Thailand on 30 June to sign three deals with key government ministries on the information technology development..
The three memorandums of agreement include one covering educational activities with the Education Ministry, the promotion of the e-government project with the ICT Ministry, and the development of web services, according to Vice Minister of the Information and Communication Technology, Kanawat Vasinsangvorn.
The agreements could help develop IT skills of some 20,000 teachers and 60,000 students as well as improve the quality of local software developers.
The government was also currently in the process of establishing a unit to examine the performance of the “Smart Card”, Mr. Kanawat said.
The National Electronic and Computer Technology Centre had previously questioned the efficiency of the smart card. It is not suitable for multi-applications, according to the NECTC. (TNA) – E005"
